Introduction to Morning Glory

Situated at the Farm "Gelykfontein" close to venterstad, next to the largest lake in South Africa, "Lake Gariep".

Perfectly situated half-way between Johannesburg / Cape Town / Port Elizabeth, 15 minutes from Lake Gariep, 9km from Venterstad, next to Oviston Nature Reserve. The farm is on the R58 road (see map).

Accommodation consists of a homely house on the olf family farm (a well known race horse stud farm) Stud was establushed in 1935.

We are also breeders of Nguni Cattle, Rubicon Merino sheep, Indiginous African veld Goats, Venda Chickens and game.

The house is divided into 3 units (each with its own entrance) :

  • Unit A : 2 Double bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and lounge (DSTV) sleeps 4 people.
  • Unit B : 1 Double bedroom, bathroom and kitchenet (part DSTV).
  • Family room : Sleeps 5 people with own bathroom and kitchenet (part DSTV).
  • Stable Cottage : is a seperate cottage (sleeps 2 people) with own bathroom and kitchen.

    • Each unit is fully equipped with linen, towels (bring own towels for pool), roof fans, heaters, electric blankets, coffee / tea facilities, interesting reading matter, etc.

    Morning Glory is owner run with personal service in a homely atmosphere.

    True Karoo cuisine in the friendly atmosphere of our cosy dining room. Enjoy "Karoo lamb" at it's best!

    Or have our own braai at the lapa with built in braai next to the splash pool in the cool garden under a canopy of shady trees.

    Selfcatering : R250.00 per person per night
